G-Force Cartoon Closures
I guess this flatline … is for me to skate away on
And now I need a spacesuit in my home
because it’s suddenly somewhere in outer space
and I can barely breathe
Or the tube to my regulator has knotted up
when making it through this moment became a scuba fucking daredevil risk
into the deepest, darkest, free-of-benthic-diatomaceous-neon-yay seas
But God’s doing it all for a reason — my scuffed faith must say
God’s doing it all for a reason —
here at the pew of scraped/peddles-embedded-in-my/knees
I think I’ve finally made it to the unflattering point
where the emotional K.O. keeled me over
and I knocked out my heart’s two front teeth
Or maybe I just have a habit of chasing Aladdin-magic-carpets
in the form of rugs getting viciously yanked out from under my feet
Maybe there’s no such thing as The One
And True Love comes in the form of a One
-Two Punch
And aren’t Soul Mates supposed to KNOW that fucking shit
and not be subject to loss because it was only a hunch?!
Where is my ViewFinder from when I was 8 years old?
Where are my perfect scenes of Loony Toons and utopia and fairy tales untold?
Of falling anvils on heads that grow lumps like Pinocchio noses
And then are gone in the next scene — why can’t life imitate g-force cartoon closures?
Yah, yah, yah, there are thorns with the roses
And a perfect picture gets ruined by overexposure
Maybe we’re not supposed to carry more than one world in our hands or on our shoulders
Because that rock that formed your diamond bling only takes a perception
— and a second —
to feel like a boulder
that crushes you with its weight and shock
when you stumble home drunk and can’t fit your key …
because she’s changed the lock
Maybe I need to be more careful with my heart
and put up a sign that says “Please Knock”
Instead of red carpets being my blood type
and demolition derby transfusions from Super Starlets
awarding me the Oscar for Fatal Clots
“Sometimes when you win, you lose” — time will have a way of dismantling your *hot*
When living in the land of la la and maybe,
be careful,
because fantasy’s appraisal value
you may find to be
maybe not.
